It turns out despite being told we would have a week of shadowing time not only were we going to be teaching on Monday, but we were going to be teaching with literally zero help.
The result of this was me standing in front of a room of 4 elementary kids literally flailing with no idea what I should be doing. Needless to say it soured the day a bit. The class actually is actually composed of 3 children who have some sort of problem which will cause the class to be frustrating to teach. The one girl of the class is a schemer, there is the boy whose father beats him, and the dorky kid who won't shut the hell up. It really isn't a good combination, and it is really hard to enforce the "No speaking Korean in class" rule.
The other class we were thrown into on Monday is a group of olderish girls, they were a nice change from the class before even if they do chat like crazy when they should be listening to my sexy voice. It is definitely something which should be worked on, but we will see if any progress is made. We have decided to bide our time with the older girls by giving them a pop song from AmeriCanada a week to appease their love of pop music. The first week's song was You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift, which I actually enjoyed listening to since it is the kind of song that gets stuck in your head whether you want it to or not.
The rest of the week was spent preparing to move into our shiney new room, which is large and actually feels like a college dorm room. This is actually kind of pleasing to me in a strange way. Manda and I have explored more of the city and met a nice British gent named Patrick who we hope to be come ESLBFFs with. We walked to the bus terminal which was a nice mileish walk and was pretty easy to find. We also ate at Pizza Hut which was yumlicious unlike Pizza Hut from the states which sucks.
I guess there is only one way to end this post, and that is giant death spiders.
